A fan has taken to the internet to show off a ‘Davion’ costume that looks like the iconic character from the ‘Star War’ franchise.
Chris Craft, creator of the costume, posted an image on Instagram showing his Star Wars-themed costume that he says “is one of my favourite Star Wars costumes”.
“My favourite part of the design is the Darth Vader headpiece that sits atop the helmet,” Craft wrote.
“That helmet, and the belt, are the only parts of the outfit that I actually have in my shop.”
Craft is currently in the process of making the costume.
“I have been in the business of designing costumes for people for about six years now, so I have the time and expertise to put this together,” he said.
Craft said the costume was a way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original ‘Star Trek’ television series.
Craft added that he’s received many requests to make the costume for the upcoming ‘Star wars’ movie.
“Many of them are about the same time as the movie so I’ve been asked to make a costume for a lot of the people who have expressed interest in it,” Craft said.
“The idea is to create something that everyone can wear, but will still look like the original show, but without having to take off their old clothes to do so.”
Craft’s ‘Starcraft’ costume is currently for sale for $1,900.
Craft also said the original costume would also be a great addition to any costume collection.
“It’s a bit of a nod to the original Star Trek and Star Wars series, as well as the original series of films and the original television show,” Craft explained.
“As you can see in the picture, the helmet is completely removed from the costume itself.”
Craft said he’s also received requests to use the original design for a “modern day Star Wars” costume.
Craft is not the first to incorporate ‘Starwars’ into their designs.
Last year, artist James Stoll drew a ‘StarWars’ inspired character in a design for an upcoming movie called ‘Star Warriors’.
Stoll created the character using an original drawing from ‘Starwar’ writer Gene Roddenberry, who died in 2015.
“He used the original drawings of ‘Star wars’ and he used the same drawings for the original film as he did for ‘Star Warrior’,” Stoll told CBC News.
